Tractor drivers warned about using mobile phones in Shropshire
Tractor drivers have been warned about using mobile phones whilst driving following complaints of it happening in north Shropshire.
Police have warned the offence could lead to drivers receiving a fine or points on their licence.
Constable Mick Sturland, of the Market Drayton safer neighbourhood team, said: "There have been some complaints about tractor drivers using mobile phones whilst driving.
"There have been a number of other drivers seeing this around north Shropshire.
"Remember its six points and £200 fine if caught."
Oliver Cartwright, NFU spokesman, said: “Every motorist, young and old, knows that using a hand-held phone or similar device while driving is illegal and it is up to the correct authorities to take appropriate action.
“The simple advice for everyone, whether you’re in a heavy goods vehicle, car, farm vehicle or on a bike is don’t use your phone while driving.
“The NFU works closely with the police and local authorities to raise awareness of any key issues that are flagged up.
“I would also thank people for bearing with us during the busy harvest period.”
