New water pipes being installed near Market Drayton
About £250,000 is being spent on installing new water pipes near a town.
Severn Trent is investing the money on the new pipes in Napley Heath near Market Drayton.
The utility firm, which is now inviting local people to have their say on plans, said the the work will provide customers with a reliable supply for years to come.
Gareth Mead, from Severn Trent, said: "The existing pipes beneath Napley Road have been in place for many years and we know that over time old pipes can sometimes become less reliable.
"That's why we've taken the decision to install these brand new durable pipes to make sure local people always have access to fresh drinking water. In total we'll be replacing around two kilometres of pipes to help guard against leaks and bursts happening in the future
"Now we're inviting people to a community drop-in session to find out more about our plans and when and where we'll be working."
The drop-in session will take place on Wednesday from 4pm to 7pm at Norton-in-Hales Jubilee Hall. Everyone is invited to come along and speak to the team who will be overseeing the work.
The pipes will start to be installed on June 26 and the project should be complete by the end of August.
Mr Mead added: "Our contractors from Amey will be working to replace these pipes and will do as much as possible to minimise disruption to daily life.
"During the work there will be some temporary road closures in place to allow the engineers to work safely and fully signposted diversions will be set-up for motorists in the area.
"We know this may cause some local delays but we hope local people realise the benefits these new pipes will have."
