Man found dead in Market Drayton Asda car park
A man was found dead in a van in Market Drayton's Asda car park today.
Emergency services were called to the car park on Stafford Road at about 6am after concerns were raised for a man in a vehicle.
Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 6.02am about a man in a vehicle.
"We sent an ambulance, rapid response vehicle, paramedic officer and hazardous area response team.
"When the vehicle was entered a man was found to be deceased. We left the incident with police."
West Mercia police spokeswoman Victoria Smith said: "Police were called to a car park on Stafford Street in Market Drayton this morning at 5:58am, following concerns for the welfare of a man in a van.
"Police, fire service and ambulance service attended the scene where the body of a man was found. The man was pronounced deceased.
"The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time, and a file is being prepared for the coroner. Formal identification has not yet taken place."
The town's police safer neighbourhood team tweeted that the car park would be closed while officers dealt with an incident.
The car park had reopened by 12pm.
