Driver flees crash which left 200 homes without power in Market Drayton
More than 200 homes were left without power after a car crashed into an electrical box before the driver made off on foot.
Western Power Distribution said about 240 properties in Market Drayton were affected after the crash on Shrewsbury Road caused signification damage to a feeder pillar.
Police say the driver of a silver Peugeot 308 left the scene on foot.
A police spokesman said: "A woman, described as being in her 30s with shoulder length hair and wearing dark trousers and a knee length top, is reported to have been seen leaving the area on foot in the direction of the police station and the Muller diary.
Western Power Distribution said power was restored to all the properties without in six hours.
The crash happened at about 11.15pm last night and one side of Shrewsbury Road is closed. Traffic lights are currently in place today.
A spokesman for Western Power Distribution said: "About 240 properties were affected after significant damage was caused to the feeder pillar. We restored power to the properties in six hours by re-routing supplies but there is still a lot of work to and repairs to carry out.
"It could take us a few days to completely repair the damage and while we do so we have closed one side of the road to carry out the repairs.
"We need to repair the cables and equipment and fit a new box."
