Market Drayton couple celebrate 60th wedding anniversary
It was love at first sight for Tom and Connie Muir who have celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary.
The couple, from Market Drayton, met at RAF Cosford in 1957 and were married later that year.
Tom, 80, and Connie, 79, have admitted the secret to their relationship has been a lot of "give and take".
Tom said: "We met at RAF Cosford in 1957 and got married the same year. We worked at the hospital both as medics.
"We met in February, got engaged after about three months and married in November 57.
"We got married in Devon which was Connie's home and where she was born. I was born in Ayrshire, so we were both from opposite ends of the country.
"I was in the RAF for 24 years and I should have finished at Tern Hill but they had to close down the medical centre so the base went over to the army. I only had five or six months to do go but I got posted to Cosford so ended up back where we started.
"We did a bit of travelling in the RAF in places such as Cyprus, Germany and Oman.
"We moved to Drayton in 72 after coming back over to Germany. We both went overseas again to the UAE for nine years during two tours.
"When we came back we got the Royal Oak in Gnosall and were there three and a half years. Because of my arthritis we got out. I came back to Drayton and have lived there ever since.
"Our relationship has been based on a lot of give and take."
The couple, who have two sons and six grandchildren, said they have celebrated their anniversary with a party at their house with family as well as the two of them going out for lunch.
