Building fire exercise puts Shropshire fire crews through their paces
Shropshire firefighters have to be ready for any emergency – and in Shrewsbury they have been fine tuning their skills to deal with a building fire.
Several crews from across the county took part in an exercise at Stadco in Shrewsbury.
The exercise involved a simulated fire within a building, which involved a large industrial machine and a number of people unaccounted for.
A spokesman for Market Drayton Fire Station, said: "Fire appliances from Market Drayton, Hodnet, Shrewsbury and Minsterley attended, along with specialist officers, these were all supported by our fire control staff located at headquarters in Shrewsbury.
"Teams of firefighters wearing breathing apparatus, had to work hard in challenging conditions, to locate and rescue four missing persons.
Training in such situations and locations, helps to ensure that crews remain competent and operationally ready at all times."
Market Drayton firefighters have taken part in exercises dealing with a chemical spillage, aircraft blaze and road traffic collision in recent months.
