Two new councillors join Market Drayton Town Council
Two new councillors have joined a town council following a by-election.
Conservatives Donna Edmunds and Ian Nellins have been elected to join Market Drayton Town Council.
Five candidates put themselves forward for the seats following the recent resignation of Roger Hughes and Chris Purcell from the authority.
The other candidates included Independent Chris Grundy and Labour's Charles Love and Darren Taylor.
The by-election took place last Thursday where the turnout was 13.73 per cent.
Mr Nellins received 306 of the votes and Ms Edmunds received 299.
Councillor Matt Erwin, mayor of Market Drayton, said: "Congratulations are due to the successful candidates in the recent bye election, turnout was not high however the results were definitive. I look forward to welcoming our new councillors Ian Nellins and Donna Edmunds to the chamber."
