Meeting with Chelsea idols for Market Drayton youngster Oliver
A young Market Drayton footballer got a brush with greatness, as he and his dad came face to face with the Premier League champions.
Oliver Wilcox and dad Russell chatted with Chelsea FC players and even got a few gifts including signed boots and shirts, after they were invited to see a first team training session at Cobham in Surrey.
Oliver, nine, is a lifelong Chelsea fan, and is a successful striker with Market Drayton Town FC's youth team, having scored in double digits already this season.
He got advice on playing from international stars including Eden Hazard, Thibaut Courtois and David Luiz, the latter of whom signed a pair of boots and gave Oliver tips for life on and off the pitch.
Russell said: "Eden Hazard is Oliver's idol, so to meet him was just overwhelming for him.
"It was a real privilege for us both to go down and meet the international players. We had a good chat with David Luiz especially, he told Oliver that it is important to do well in school so that was good.
"Oliver's jaw dropped when he gave him the boots. We really couldn't ask for anything more."
The invitation down south came about because Russell is the director of Cyril Wilcox and Sons, a tyre company that works with Chelsea sponsors Yokohama.
