Winds to blame for Shrewsbury power cuts
High winds have been blamed for power cuts across Shropshire.
More than 150 customers in the Cheswardine area near Market Drayton were without electricity for almost 90 minutes on Sunday after a line dropped down.
Western Power Distribution spokesman John Weston said: "About 153 customers had interrupted supply. An overhead line became dislodged by the wind.
"It didn't fall to the ground, but we thought it was best to take these customer off line to carry out repairs to make it safe. It was weather related."
The power cuts happened yesterday morning. A number of properties in the Cherry Orchard and Abbey Foregate areas of Shrewsbury were also affected by low voltage issues.
