NFU and NFU Mutual group secretary Rebecca Millard and her team in Market Drayton have made a contribution to the food bank to do their bit for those in crisis.

The office staff, based at Walkmill Road Business Park, decided to go with a ‘12 Days of Christmas’ theme and supply British food and ingredients.

They made their festive delivery to Market Drayton Food Bank, and the produce, which needed to be non-perishable, included oatcakes, sugar, flour, crisps, rapeseed oil and a variety of vegetables.

The town’s food bank is part of a nationwide network, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

They provide emergency food to people in crisis, offer additional support and campaign for change.

People who are referred to them in crisis are provided with three days’ of nutritionally balanced emergency food and support.

Rebecca said: “I am delighted to be able to support Market Drayton Food Bank, which offers vital support to those who are in need.

“We are a town business and it is always important that we support each other and our community.

“The food bank’s message to help people with poverty and hunger is an important one and as a farming organisation the NFU represents British farmers who are very proud of the food they produce.

“I think it is only right that people should have access to great quality, traceable and affordable British produce grown and reared to high standards. Our donation is all British produce and we are delighted to be able to do our bit.”
