Blaze destroys historic Shropshire building
An historic listed building near Hinstock has been destroyed in a blaze.
The isolated two-storey sandstone grade II premises, in Ellerton, was thought to have been ablaze for some time before the flames and smoke were spotted.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said that an investigation has been launched to find the cause of the fire which resulted in the collapse of the roof.
When crews from Market Drayton and Newport along with an operations officer attended the scene shortly before 3.30pm on New Year’s Eve they use water to douse the remaining hotspots and offered advice to the owner.
No-one was injured. West Mercia Police also attended.
The crews left the scene at 3.55pm.
