Several people around Cheswardine said on social media that their phone lines and internet connections have stopped working, and now a sign on the High Street, near the Fox & Hounds pub, says the road will be closed for two weeks "due to unforeseen circumstances".

One resident, Camilla Hardie, said: "Ours was off for a month. It's only been back on a couple of weeks and now we're off again. Limited mobile signal in Cheswardine doesn't help.

"Before it was landline and internet and now it is landline and internet. BT told me they had replaced some overhead lines."
