Vahit Tezgel, a serving prisoner, whose address was given as Market Drayton, died on September 30, a pre-inquest review was told yesterday .

Senior Coroner for Shropshire and Telford and Wrekin, Mr John Ellery, heard that Mr Tezgel, 61, was pronounced death at the Princess Royal Hospital.

The pre-inquest review held at the Shirehall in Shrewsbury heard that one of the matters to be explored by the full inquest would be the fact that there was a delay of 90 seconds between Mr Tezgel being found unresponsive in his cell and him receiving CPR.

Prison Officers who found him had called for health care staff to give assistance.

The medical cause of death was a heart attack.

Mr Ellery adjourned the inquest until April 20.

Mr Tezgel, a builder and construction worker, formerly of Stoke-on-Trent, was jailed for unlawful wounding after hitting a neighbour with a piece of wood.
