Dancers ready for 'cracker of a show
A group of young ballet dancers have proven they're tu-tu good after they were picked to perform The Nutcracker.
Twelve Shropshire dancers have been selected as part of the cast with the English Youth Ballet, a year after they were devastated to have their performances cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Luckily, the performances have been successfully rescheduled and they will finally getting the chance to perform alongside international professional dancers at the Wolverhampton Grand Theatre today and tomorrow.
Holly Blackham, 17, from Market Drayton, will dance the solo role of Lead Snowflake.
She said: “I started dancing at age 12, although this is very late to start dancing it is something I always wanted to do but had never had the opportunity before.
"Dancing lifts my spirits when I'm feeling low. I love the buzz and excitement of doing a show. Being in EYB is an excellent opportunity to give an insight to what it is like to dance with a professional company. I'm currently studying performing arts at college.”
The other Shropshire cast members are Elijah Brooks, 11, Mathra Bruce, 12, Lyla Cintas, 11, Georgia Hall-Salter, 13, Harriet Hall-Salter, 16, Annabelle Handley, 10, Josephine Handley, 13, Ciara Lucas-Garner, 16, Izzy Lucas-Garner 12, Scarlett Roberts, 11, and Max Ward, 11.
