Neighbour protest over plans to expand pet crematorium amid claims of 'vile smells'
People living close to a pet crematorium are protesting against plans for an extension to the operation.
They say they have had to put up with the smells from the Rosehill Pet & Equine Crematorium, on Rosehill Road, Stoke Heath near Market Drayton for the four to five years.
And they fear a second animal cremator will make matters worse.
Specialist company, Vetspeed Ltd has applied to Shropshire Council for planning permission to expand the existing Pet & Equine Crematorium with the installation of an additional animal cremator within the existing building together with additional external flue and the erection of reception building/office and outdoor cold store unit, for the bulking up and transfer of clinical waste.
It says that there is a need for the two cremators to operate simultaneously because of a need to cremate horses at the same time as other animals. Horses require individual cremation, and the cremation process is much longer than for other animals.
