Driver taken to hospital after Wem road closed as lorry overturns
The driver of a lorry was taken to hospital after his vehicle ended up on its side today.
It happened on Soulton Road, Wem, shortly before 2pm.
The driver suffered neck and back pain as a result of the accident which caused the road to be closed between Station Road and the B5065.
Three fire crews from Prees, Wellington and Wem were called to the scene and made the vehicle safe.
Murray MacGregor, spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service, said: "We were called at 1.53pm to reports of a HGV on its side. We sent an ambulance and rapid response vehicle.
"A male of 50 complained of neck and back pain. He was given pain relief, immobilised and was taken to Royal Shrewsbury Hospital."
