Burglar targets 87-year-old Wem woman
An 87-year-old woman was targeted by a burglar at her home in Wem.
The pensioner was at home on Christmas Eve when a men let himself in through an unlocked front door.
He asked his victim for a glass of water and was allowed to get one himself.
A police spokesman said: "The man finished his water and then took the glass into the kitchen to wash up before leaving the address. The victim then noticed that her handbag in her living room had been opened and property stolen."
