Fire service busy
Firefighters spent an hour bringing a blaze involving manure and straw under control in north Shropshire.
The alarm was raised at 5.15pm on Monday after the fire was spotted on the mound on open land at Edstaston near Wem.
Crews from Prees and Whitchurch were quickly on the scene and used rakes and shovels as well as a hosereel jet to bring the fire under control by 6.12pm.
Soon after Shropshire Fire and Rescue service was called to a fire involving a hedge and trees at Barnmeadow Road, Newport. There was also slight damage to a shed which the crew from the town managed to save. The fire was dealt with within half an hour.
A tent and rubbish went up in flames at the rear of Roden Grove in Wem at 6.40pm. The blaze was brought under control by 7.20pm.
