Cow rescued from slurry pit near Whitchurch

A cow had to be rescued from a slurry pit near Whitchurch.

Firefighters spent just under three hours rescuing the animal from Lodmore Lane, Burleydam.

A fire engine from Nantwich and the specialist animal rescue team from Knutsford were called to the scene at about 8am on Thursday.

Crews used lifting equipment, ladders, dry suits and straps to rescue the cow from the concrete chamber of the slurry pit.
