Helen launches latest book
The latest children’s picture book from Whitchurch children’s author and illustrator Helen Bate is to be launched at a book signing at Bookshrop in Whitchurch during the Blackberry Fair celebrations on October 7 at 11am.
This new picture book called The Creature tells the story of a creature that is brought into the house by the family cat and won’t leave, and received good pre-publication reviews in both America and Britain.
This is the second children’s book written and illustrated by Helen. Her first, Peter In Peril, published in 2016, is now used throughout the UK and in the US and Australia to educate children of seven to 10 years about the Holocaust and has recently been long-listed for the UK Literacy Association Book Awards 2017.
Helen was originally an architect working in Chester, but retrained as an illustrator at Glyndwr University in Wrexham.
Since then she has illustrated books for Frances Lincoln and Harper Collins. Her latest books both written and illustrated by Helen are published by Otter-Barry Books (http://www.otterbarrybooks.com/).
She is currently working on a new title to be published in 2019.
