Harry Nicholls whose mother Michelle entered him into the competition, is one of three lucky children who has appeared on national TV in the Argos advert last weekend, including in high-profile spots during ITV's Catchphrase and Channel 4's Come Dine with Me.

The advert, which celebrates Argos's commitment to super speedy delivery, features a futuristic rocket-powered super-sleigh.

As it readies to take off on its mission across the country an elf spots that a child's long-awaited Christmas present, a Teksta voice-recognition robotic puppy, has lost its way from the sleigh.

The quick-thinking elf scans it in to reveal its intended recipient on-screen – seven-year-old Harry – whose family's gifts are departing from gate nine.

This leads to a blockbuster-style chase across the distribution centre in which the elf pulls out all the stops to ensure the robotic puppy makes it to Harry in time for Christmas.

Michelle, Harry's mother, said: "Harry didn’t even know I’d entered him in the competition so once I’d explained it to him he starting screaming and jumping up and down saying 'I’m going to be on the telly'.

"Since the advert went out on Saturday afternoon he’s had loads of friends asking him 'was that you on the Argos advert on the TV?' which he is finding very funny."

Harry is a big Shrewsbury Town fan who is currently in Year 3 at Whitchurch Junior School.

As part of the competition, his mum had to send a picture of Harry in.

She said: "Harry was one of the lads from Whitchurch Alport Under 8s who attended the match day experience at Shrewsbury Town on September 23.

"He really loved the whole day. As a town supporter this was a big highlight of his year. I took the photo after he had just come off the pitch after being a flag bearer.

"Due to the big smile and joy on his face I sent this picture into the competition to appear in the Argos Christmas advert on TV.

"I want to say to Shrewsbury Town a big thank you for the match day experience. Without this I wouldn’t have captured this lovely picture of Harry. Harry and ourselves are over the moon."

Speaking before the advert was shown on TV, Gary Kibble, marketing director at Argos, said: "We're really proud to make Argos the first UK retailer to personalise its Christmas advert across both TV and social media – and we can't wait to see Harry become part of the action."
