Fire crews attend retirement home after alarms triggered by burnt toast
Fire crews were summoned to a retirement home after a snack mishap set off the alarms.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue scrambled to attend an automatic fire alarm at St Johns Park retirement housing complex in Whitchurch on Saturday, March 4.
One fire appliance was sent from Whitchurch Fire Station, but fortunately, it was found that the cause was a simple case of burnt toast.
Recent Home Office figures show that in the year ending September 2022, fire services in England attended 41,141 incidents where burnt toast was the culprit.
