Car hits electricity pole in Weston Rhyn

A driver had to be released by firefighters after a car crashed into an electricity pole in a village.

The accident happened in Station Road, Weston Rhyn near Oswestry at 3.20am today.

Emergency services were quickly on scene.

Firefighters from Oswestry and Wellington released the driver, trapped in the wreckage of the car, using specialist cutting equipment. The operation took just over half an hour.

Scottish Power engineers made the electricity supply safe.
