Meeting over fibre 'rainfall' at factory
Factory bosses were meeting with community representatives last night after sawdust 'rained' from the sky over homes and cars.
The particles in the air fell on Chirk after equipment at the Kronospan factory became blocked last week.
The meeting of the businesses environment liaison committee included councillors from both the town and county borough councils.
Wrexham council's environmental health department has begun an investigation into the release of the tiny particles from the factory, which makes medium density fibreboard, on Wednesday.
Kronospan apologised for the incident and asked residents affected to contact the company on 01691 773361.
At least a dozen people rang the factory when they noticed particles which they said looked like they were raining from the sky.
Last night's regular meeting of the liaison committee was held in private.
Wrexham council's lead for public protection, Hugh Jones, said: "Wrexham council officers are currently investigating the circumstances of the incident in accordance with agreed procedures.
"Once that investigation is completed, the council will consider if any further action is required."
Kronospan is one of the top 10 manufacturers in Wales and employs more than 900 people at the plant in Chirk.
The company has plans to build a new complex which will include installing the latest generation chip processing facility which will be based inside an insulated building.
It says it will improve the quality of material going in to the particle board and reduce the potential for off-site impact of noise and dust.
