The bright yellow mascot for Children in Need surprised walkers when he showed up at the Countryfile Ramble for Children In Need in Ruyton XI Towns.

More than 100 ramblers took part in the 5.3 mile walk, on Sunday.

Starting in the park in the village the walkers, including many children headed over the Cliffe and Hopton Hill, and then did a loop

around Nesscliffe Hill, before retracing their steps back to Ruyton XI Towns.

The walkers enjoyed refreshments at the Talbot Inn, where the official Pudsey Bear Mascot was waiting to greet them.

Event organiser, John Guest was delighted with the turnout.

"Last year we had around 70 people taking part, this year we had 110. It's great to see that the numbers have grown and that the weather has been kind to us for the second year running"

"We have already raised £520, with a few more donations to come in, which is a fantastic achievement by everyone involved. It was

lovely to see so many adults, children and dogs join together for such a brilliant day out."

Tens of thousands of people took part in Countryfile Rambles across the length and breadth of Britain last weekend.

The popular television show used the rambles to raise funds for the BBC Children in Need appeal.

Show presenters joined rambles with members of the public who have or are being helped by projects funded by the charity.
