Photo competition launched

It is cameras at dawn for photographers at a Shropshire tourist attraction.

The British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry is opening its gates extra early on Saturdays and Sundays throughout November to allow photographers to take advantage of its sculptures and landscape at sunrise and sunset.

A photographic competition has been launched by the centre running through the month of November and camera clubs from across the region as well as individuals have been invited to take part.

Centre chairman, Mr Clive Knowles, said: "For one month every Saturday and Sunday the British Ironworks will be opening its gates extra early.

"The grounds and the parkland will be open to roam, in the search for those special photographic opportunities.

"For those dawn photographers, complimentary hot coffee will be served in the coffee hut from 8am onwards.

"We will be submitting the most magical and extraordinary photographs to a panel of experts including representatives from

Jessops the camera retailers, Shropshire Photographic society and Oswestry’s Photographic societies, together with a judge from Shropshire star.

The winner will receive £500 of gift vouchers, £250 to be used at the British Ironwork Centre and £250 at Jessops Shrewsbury.

Runners up will have their photographs entered into an additional public vote, on social media.

The winner from this be presented with £100 of vouchers.

"We want photographers to use our site as a photographic studio. It is a wonderful time for wildlife and of course our sculpture park is a perfect backdrop."

"Photographers of all ages, backgrounds and experience levels are invited to enter our competition. Photos must be over 1mb in size and taken at the British Ironwork Centre."
