Streets in the town centre will be closed off to traffic from 3pm on Friday as a huge funfair moves in to set up its rides.

Charity stalls and street entertainers will replace the motorist for the evening as well as music in the Christmas Live extravaganza which will get into full swing at 6pm and finish with a firework display.

After reopening at 10pm the main streets will shut again at 11am for the Saturday Christmas parade.

About 30 floats are expected to process from Lower Brook Street, into Church Street and then split between Willow Street and Bailey Street before joining up again in Beatrice Street.

The two events mean a weekend of celebrations for Oswestry and a boost to shops as visitors combine the attractions with Christmas shopping.
