The six-foot long wall art of hot air balloons taking the the skies was commissioned by The British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry, which hosted the Balloon Festival in August 2017.

The event raised funds for the Wrexham based hospice which has many patients and families from Shropshire.

Clive Knowles, chairman of the centre, the piece had been produced for Nightingale House’s newly refurbished reception area.

"The inspiration for this piece was Oswestry’s first Hot Air Balloon Festival which raised an incredible £25k for the charity over the three day event," he said.

Steve Parry chief executive of Nightingale House Hospice said it would take pride of place in the hospice's newly refurbished reception.

He said: "We are delighted to receive this magnificent iron balloon festival portrait. The portrait will be prominently displayed within the Hospice and provide a permanent reminder of the balloon festival which was a great success whilst also raising in excess of £25k for the Hospice which provides adult specialist palliative care service for patients and support for families covering North Wales and the North Shropshire Border. We are extremely grateful to the British Ironwork Centre for their continued support of Nightingale House Hospice”.

Mr Knowles said: "It was thorough pleasure to support Nightingale House Hospice this year. It is a hugely valuable asset and vital service to the area. The work and support the hospice provides is incredible.”
