Neil Jenkins, who owns Twelve Green Bottles in Oswestry, has been quick to remind customers that the store, which sells a wide range of wines and beers, is still open despite a decision to concentrate on the shop's website.

Mr Jenkins, who opened the shop in September 2014, made a decision in November to close the door of the shop, but not stop the business operating from its Leg Street base.

Customers in the area can still order wine, and can ring the bell and a member of staff will assist them.

Mr Jenkins said: “I was baffled to see people had said we have closed, but I can reassure people that we are not closed and we are still open for business.

"What we decided last year was that we needed to concentrate on our website, and needed more time to do it, and didn’t have that time when we were operating the shop.

“However we still have customers ordering in, we actually had one from Oswestry yesterday, and people can come to the door and order their wine.

“But what I can assure people is that we have not closed at all.”

Mr Jenkins reported that January was a hugely successful month for the business, as were November and December.

He added: “January for some people isn’t great, but for us it has been“Our online presence has been really good, we sell all over the country, but we also sell a lot locally.

“The public can still get their quality wines in Oswestry, but we have to sell to all over the country.

“So the message is we are still very much open here in Oswestry.”
