Hello flower! Alan Titchmarsh calls in British Ironwork Centre for hospital project
The transformation of a children's hospital garden by Alan Titchmarsh has been given a helping hand by a Shropshire firm.
The ITV show Love your Garden has been transforming the garden at the Royal Manchester Children's Hospital.
Producers contacted the British Ironwork Centre near Oswestry to see if it could supply some larger-than-life flower ornaments to give all-year-round colour to the garden.
Workers were happy to produce the sculptors for the project which has been underway at the hospital this week.
Centre chairman Mr Clive Knowles said it had been wonderful to be involved in the garden that children at the hospital will be able to enjoy and use.
"We took on the responsibility of creating larger than life bright colourful flowers," he said.
Summer colour
"We’ve actually been working with the ITV team for some years now. This project was of immediate interest and we hope to have injected some bright summer colour to really make a splash at the hospital.
"Alan was delighted with the results and we hope to be working in collaboration with the Love your Garden team again soon."
Mr Knowles said that producers from the show were expected to be visiting the Ironwork Centre soon to explore new projects for the near future."
Work on the hospital garden also saw the involvement of Manchester Police and the Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.
The garden now incorporates outdoor table tennis tables and a pagoda, as well a spectacular array of flowers.
