June 5: The scene at Park Hall almost two weeks ago

Residents in the area of Park Hall in Oswestry have been told to stay indoors, after another device was found on a building site in Artillery Road this morning, the site of a former army training camp.

West Mercia Police were informed about the find this at around 9.20am, and explosives ordnance disposal officers have been contacted and will be attending the site today.

A spokesman for the force said: "Police were informed at about 9.20am today that what is believed to be an old wartime shell was found at a site in Park Crescent in Park Hall in Oswestry. Explosives Ordnance Disposal have been contacted and will attend the site to dispose of the item safely."

Less than two weeks ago, on June 5, residents were told to stay in doors when a bomb shell was discovered.

EOD officers came and x-rayed that device and took it to an area near Ellesmere to detonate.

Bosses for Chartland Homes, which is building a number of properties on the site, said a survey of the area would take place before work resumed.

Survey work by a specialist began this morning, and that was when the discovery was made.

Andrew Jones, of Chartland Homes said: "The discovery was made this morning by the specialist we brought in following the last incident.

"They were working alongside workmen when the device was found, and officers have been called to the scene.

"The site has been shut down for the rest of the day."

Residents have been visited by police officers this morning warning them to stay indoors and stay away from windows.

A number of homes are being built on the former Park Hall army camp site that was closed in the mid 1970s and had previously been a base for infantry training and the Royal Artillery Junior Leaders base.
