There will be a lane closure in place for one week at West Felton between 9am and 5pm, starting on Monday.

Highways England said one lane will need to be closed at all times to ensure the safety of its workers.

"Maintenance work, including cutting back roadside vegetation will be taking place on the A5," a Highways England spokesman said.

“To ensure the safety of workers, a lane closure will be required between the hours of 9am and 5pm. The work is due to run for one week.

“We would like to thank drivers in advance for their patience while this work is carried out.”

Traffic lights will be in place for the duration of the work.

There were major delays last year when a daytime road closure was put in place for tree planting.

Queues backed up to the Mile End roundabout.
