The new-look 2,500 sq ft food store runs on 100 per cent renewable electricity, and now opens from 6am-10pm.

The Co-op continued to serve the community from a temporary walk-in pop-up shop during the extensive programme of works which has also seen improvements made to the back-of-shop area, warehousing and refrigeration in order to further improve choice, range, availability and customer service

The store – which supports 14 local jobs - includes a customer car park which is being resurfaced, a bakery, Amazon Lockers, John Lewis Click & Collect and Costa coffee express, alongside an improved focus on fresh, healthy produce, ready meals and pizzas, award-winning wines, free-from and vegan products, Fairtrade, hot food, food-to-go and, everyday essentials.

Craig Emery, Co-op Area Manager, said: “We have had a great response, the store has a fantastic new look. We have worked to develop the range, choice, products and services locally that will create a really compelling offer to serve the community.

“Co-op is committed to connecting communities and making a difference locally and so I also want customers to know that they can become a Member of the Co-op. In addition to unlocking additional value and personalised offers, our Members also make a difference to local causes, with Co-op now donating two per cent to community causes every time a member swipes their Membership card when buying own-branded products.”
