Three-vehicle smash leads to long delays on major Shropshire route
Drivers escaped serious injury after a car, lorry and the trailer from a heavy goods vehicle were involved in a crash on the Oswestry bypass today.
The smash happened at the busy Whittington Island on the stretch of road that carries the A5 and A483 trunk roads at about 11.25am.
The road had to be closed to allow emergency services to deal with the vehicles and traffic were diverted through Oswestry.
West Midlands Ambulance Service said that it was called by police to the scene but was stood down en-route as there appeared to be no major injuries.
Mike Ford, a motorist who came across the scene, said the car involved had been badly damaged and the lorry trailer had come away from the vehicle.
