Hang glider pilot suffers serious injuries in crash landing near Oswestry

A hang glider pilot suffered serious injuries when he crash landed in a field near Oswestry.

Emergency services including the air ambulance rushed to Llansilin on Friday at about 3.30pm.

The incident involved a man who had crash landed in a field behind Maes Y Llan crescent.

He was treated for multiple serious injuries at the scene before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital.

A spokesman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of a hang glider that had crash landed near to Maes Y Llan in Llansilin at 3.30pm on Friday.

“On arrival we discovered one male patient, who had suffered multiple serious injuries.

“He received specialist trauma care at the scene before being airlifted to Royal Stoke University Hospital for further treatment.”

Following the incident, the community was praised for its response to help the injured man.
