Low noise fireworks for Oswestry this year as council moves annual event to town centre
Oswestry's annual firework display will be held in the heart of the town in November.
For almost three decades the event has been held at Brogyntyn Park on the edge of Oswestry.
But after the event had to be cancelled at the eleventh hour last year because of a risk assessment that venue is no longer safe.
At a town council meeting on Wednesday councillors agreed to instead hold the event this year at Cae Glas park in the centre.
The clerk, Arren Roberts, said that, still unable to get a secondary exit, council officers and Borderland Rotary have decided that a safe event could be held at Brogyntyn. He said it hadn't been possible to get permission to get entry into a neighbouring field for a second exit.
Councillor Frank Davies said: "It will be very difficult as some people will love it in Cae Glas and some people will hate it."
