Police have explained why armed officers were seen operating in a border town over the weekend.


A small town on the border of Shropshire but part of Wrexham County Borough, Chirk was a formerly a coal mining community. It has a host of local shops and a good range of facilities including its train station. Chirk also boasts a number of tourist attractions including Chirk Aqueduct and Chirk Castle, now owned by the National Trust.
