A5 near Oswestry shut for repairs after driver trapped in crash
Motorists today faced disruption on the A5 near Oswestry after a crash damaged barriers on a bridge.
The accident, which left one person trapped, happened between the Halton and Gledrid roundabouts at about 6.45pm yesterday.
Police said part of the road would remain closed today while repairs were made to the barriers, with traffic diverted through nearby Chirk.
The northbound carriageway towards Wrexham remained closed while the southbound carriageway has been reopened.
Motorists last night reported lengthy queues on the busy stretch of road, with several describing it as being at a standstill, while police urged motorists to avoid the area if possible.

Firefighters from Oswestry were called to help free the person trapped. Shropshire Fire and Rescue said it had been called to assist North Wales Fire and Rescue in dealing with the accident.
The Gledrid roundabout is undergoing a major revamp, with work expected to finish at the end of this month.
