Investigation launched after man falls through roof at Kronospan factory in Chirk

An investigation has been launched after a man fell through a roof at wood panels factory Kronospan in Chirk.

The man was a contractor, who has not been named, and was working on the site when the incident occurred at about 3pm on Monday.

A spokesperson for the Wales Ambulance Service said two crews in emergency ambulances attended and the man was airlifted to the Royal Stoke University Hospital.

On Tuesday, the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said they were looking into the matter.

A spokesperson said: "We were notified of the incident yesterday and inspectors will be attending the scene on Tuesday.

"At this stage there is no more information."

Following the incident at the site in Holyhead Road, a statement from Kronospan said: "His company are making sure that he and his family are fully supported at this difficult time.

"We are obviously extremely concerned as to how this has happened and our health and safety manager is working closely with the relevant authorities to establish the facts."
