The Legion closes its doors in Chirk
The Royal British Legion social club in Chirk has closed its doors for the last time.
The once popular club in the middle of the town has fallen victim to financial difficulties and a lack of numbers.
Although the social club has closed the British Legion Branch stressed this week that the branch was still continuing.
A spokesman for the charity, who did not want to be named, said that the social club closed on Sunday.
"The club was a completely different, independent entity to the charity," he said.
"Sadly falling membership and financial difficulties meant that the social club could not continue. However Chirk continues to have a branch of the Royal British Legion charity."
The social club began in the early 1960s and was a popular venue in the town until recently.
