The Poachers Pocket, on Chirk Road in Chirk, near Oswestry, is currently open from 10am from Monday to Saturday, and from 11am on Sundays.

Under new plans submitted to Shropshire Council, the Marston owned pub has asked to increase the opening hours to 7am every day.

The move comes on the back of the pub being granted planning permission to build a 26 bed budget hotel next to the site.

Permission was granted in November for the new storey development, which will create up to 10 full time and part time jobs.

The plans also include another 30 car parking spaces and changes to the beer garden and play area, although it is unsure when work on the new development will get underway.

Despite the application to build the hotel being accepted, it did attract objectors.

The neighbouring local authority, Wrexham Borough Council objected to the build on behalf Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Group.

They stated that while they had no objections to a development taking place, they argued the proposed design was not appropriate within the context of the adjoining World Heritage Site.

Other objectors cited potential drainage problems, and increased traffic causing safety issues, in submitting objection letters, but the application was passed by Shropshire Council planning committee in November.
