Woman airlifted to hospital after being hit by car as she got off bus

A woman was airlifted to hospital after she was hit by a car as she got off a bus.

Police have launched a fresh appeal for witnesses after the woman, in her early 20s, was hit in Holyhead Road, Chirk, at around 11.57am on Wednesday .

The women suffered a head injury, along with cuts and bruises, and was taken by air ambulance to North Staffordshire Hospital.

The road was shut for a time, and the police have thanked the public for their help and launched an appeal for witnesses.

A spokesman said: "Police would like to thank a passing nurse who provided first aid and several members of the public who assisted ensuring the casualty remained still until paramedics arrived.

"Police are appealing for witnesses to please contact PC Lewis Carpenter on 101 West Mercia Police ext 5325."
