Temporary A5 traffic lights as burst main sprays water 20ft high
A water main burst on a busy road near Chirk this morning sending a jet of water 20ft in the air.
The McDonalds branch at the nearby Halton Roundabout was left without water and temporarily forced to close as a result.
North Wales Police urged drivers to avoid the stretch of A5, between Chirk and Llangollen, while the leak is dealt with.
Water board workers have now managed to stop the flow of water and temporary traffic lights are in place while the pipe is fixed.
Video footage showed cars swerving around the powerful jet of water spraying out of the ground near the entrance to Jewson Ltd.
Hafren Dyfrdwy said the water supply to all businesses and properties was restored by about 12.30pm.
A spokeswoman said: "We’re pleased to say that water supplies should now be back on for the handful of customers that were affected, and we’re really sorry for any inconvenience caused.
"Our teams will now work to get the repair done and everything back to normal as quickly as they can."
Councillor Terry Evans said he had noticed the pipe had been leaking over the last week, before finally bursting on Tuesday morning.
