30 tons of hay bales catch fire in Ellesmere
Firefighters in Ellesmere were Tuesday battling a large blaze involving hay bales.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue service initially said that between 30 to 40 tonnes of hay was alight.
But it is now said to have involved 82 tonnes.
Three engines from Ellesmere and Oswestry were at the scene of the fire in Elson Road, using jets to cover both sides of the fire, with an incident support unit with off-road capabilities damping down around the site.
They were on scene for about four hours, arriving at 16.23pm and leaving the scene at about 8.30pm.
