Six fire crews tackle barn fire near Ellesmere - with pictures
Ninety tonnes of straw caught fire at a barn near Ellesmere.
Firefighters were called to Hardwick Hall Farm at 4pm yesterday.
Six fire engines from Baschurch, Ellesmere, Oswestry and Shrewsbury attended the scene.
Mike Ford, who witnessed the fire, said: "It was a big enclosed barn, a proper big agricultural building.
"The fire service were concerned about the roof falling in, and were working hard to get all the straw out of the building and then dampen it down outside. There wasn't any big flames, but so much smoke."
Shropshire Fire and Rescue have attended several fires over the past few weeks, caused by scoring temperatures and dry weather.
A similar incident saw a barn in Six Ashes, Bridgnorth engulfed in flames earlier this week.
