The winners, who live in Canal Way, landed the cash when their postcode - SY12 0FE - was announced as an £180,000 street prize winner.

Mark Davies said: "I’m very pleased indeed. This couldn’t have come at a better time as I could really be doing with changing my current vehicle, so that’s at the top of my wish list. The house will also be getting a makeover thanks to the win. The living room is long overdue a new three-piece-suite so that’s on the cards too."

The 64-year-old was joined by his wife June as he received the cheque from lottery ambassador Judie McCourt.

June added: "I’d almost given up checking as I never thought we’d win but now we have it’s come as quite the shock. I couldn’t be more thrilled. We’ll celebrate with a couple of days away somewhere nice with our twin sons, but don’t ask me where we’ll be going - we’ll need to think about that once what’s happened has started to sink in."

A minimum of 32 per cent from every People's Postcode Lottery ticket goes to charity and more than £350 million has been raised for over 4,000 good causes.

Last year Beechtree Community Centre, Whitchurch, received £5,000 from the lottery to provide residents with the opportunity to participate in curling and badminton.
