Man collapses and dies in Ellesmere street despite efforts of passers-by to save him
A man who collapsed in Ellesmere died despite desperate efforts by local people to save him.
Emergency services were called to Birch Road, near the White Hart Inn, shortly before 1am on Saturday.
Passers-by tried to resuscitate the man and two people ran to get a defibrillator from the town centre but they were unable to help him.
A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said two ambulances attended reports of a medical emergency at 12.56am.
"On arrival we discovered one patient, a man, who was in cardiac arrest," he said.
"Despite the best efforts of ambulance staff it became apparent nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene."
