Vera Roberts and Glyn Roberts from Ellesmere are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary

Vera, 84, and Glyn Roberts recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary reminiscing about times gone by.

The couple enjoyed doorstep visits from family members, a special cake and a congratulations card from the Queen.

It was their love of dancing that brought them together when Vera was just 15.

They would meet up after work – Glyn, now 88, was a builder and Vera, now 84, worked at Fullwoods.

Mr Roberts said: “I rode a motorbike. I would wait for her on Elson Road to come along on her bicycle then she would hold on to my shoulder and I would ride off giving her a tow up the hills.”

They married in Ellesmere Methodist Church and have three children – Clive, Carl and Maxine – and seven grandchildren.

The couple share a love of playing bowls at the Ellesmere Bowling Club and Mr Roberts is looking forward to re-starting when restrictions allow.
