Road shut as driver trapped and car overturns in Shropshire crash
A driver was trapped in his car after a crash in north Shropshire tonight.
The Ellesmere to St Martins Road was closed north of Criftins after the collision involving two cars. Emergency services said one ended up on its roof and the other in a hedge.
It is not yet known whether any of the drivers or passengers involved suffered serious injuries.
Emergency services were called to the B5068 at about 4.45pm.
The road was closed and the lanes in the area were congested with motorists trying to find their way past the scene and police urged drivers to avoid the area.
Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service said four fire crews, including the specialised rescue tender from Wellington, went to the scene.
"The collision involved two vehicles, one on its roof and one in a hedge. One person was trapped and was released by Fire Service personnel using specialist equipment and is now in the care of the Ambulance Service."
