Mothers to be celebrated in Shrewsbury

Mums and mums-to-be will be celebrated at a special event being held later this month.

The event is being held at the Shropshire Wildlife Trust, Abbey Foregate, Shrewsbury on May 21 from 10am-6pm.

Organisers of the event said that motherhood is an under-celebrated, life-changing, life-creating, incredible, magnificent, humbling thing to do to yourself; for another; for the world.

"We want to celebrate and commiserate with women, to hear them and honour them; to see them and nurture them, to inform and inspire them. So that women can celebrate their own experiences and achievements and we can gather together in strength and compassion, without judgement, without competition. This is a day for pregnant women and mothers, full of nurturing, celebrating, sharing, inspiring, understanding, lamenting, singing, listening, and learning, with delicious treats too."

Participants can be painted with henna, ask questions, meditate and join in with yoga, pilates and hula-hooping.

Tickets cost £15 per person and £5 of each ticket sold will go to local charities. For more information go to www.restoringmotherhood.co.uk
